Characters
Trevor
The Man, the Myth, the Legend. At least in his mind.
You and Trevor have been friends since the first grade, when he got you both into trouble for stealing all the brown crayons under the guise of a freedom march.
Inseparable since, the two of you have done everything. Juvie football as the dynamic duo linebackers, point guard and small forward—name the sport, and you both were there.
After high school, Trevor even moved to be near your university (though he did not have the grades to attend yours). Miraculously, he is a top-notch carpenter. He even helped design the interior of your apartment in the newly revitalized Park Street.
Trevor wears style, bleeds confidence, and while not always the smartest, is certainly the most charismatic, with bold, never-shy moves. He wins with men and ladies alike.
Amy
Amy first walked into your life, literally. You crashed into her after rushing out of a very embarrassing first day of your transfer to university. What could have been a dogpile of a day ended up being the start of a long-lasting friendship. You and Amy have been there for each other ever since. Nineteen years since your day-one blunder.
Amy has been a top wingman, fierce defender, a shoulder to cry on, and almost everything in between. She is bold and unapologetic. Her confidence allows her to do whatever she decides.
Some have questioned how it is you two have never stepped into relationship waters, but you just haven’t. The result: a friend for life, albeit a hot one.
Matt
You first met Matt when he tried relentlessly pursuing Amy in university. While the chase failed, ultimately it turned into a decades-long friendship. Matt and Amy are even roommates now. Given their outward similarities, they both agree there is no chance they’d ever make a couple, though Matt may not actually believe his own words.
Matt is from the UK. Part of his schooling was to transfer to your university, pushing for a PhD in medical sciences. Purely academic, given he faints at the sight of blood.
Matt also has a dark secret that only you know. He is a nerd. Like textbook, typecast-in-bad-movies nerd. In the UK, Matt would study and obsess over movies and comics. His efforts with women were so catastrophic, his father actually set him up (unbeknownst to him at the time) with his third cousin to lose his virginity. Another secret you lord over him.
Somehow, one plane trip to the USA changed everything. The nerd became the mysterious. He went from Egon Spengler to Jude Law literally overnight. He has never looked back, sort of.
He does still suffer from great insecurity about being caught in what he sees as a lie. He often tries too hard to conceal his nerd past. It still shines through with every movie or comic reference he tells.
Kim
Kim went to school with you and Trevor, though you never travelled in the same social circles. While you two were into sports and girls, Kim was into other things. Namely, guys. Kim absolutely hams up the gaydar, though, and you aren’t sure if it is to poke an eye at those who are uncomfortable with it or his fellow gay community who dramatizes it. Either way, it’s what makes Kim Kim.
It was a few years later, when you were first putting together your startup, that you reconnected. Kim is a very successful banker, though none of you know exactly what or how. When you were getting financing for your company, he was at the financier’s building, though not with that bank. He is somewhat of your own Barney Stinson.
You’ve met for coffee almost every Monday since. Kim instantly joined the friend group and has been with you through it all.
MC
This is you, the main character.
